Help: court date is Wednesday!!!

Being made bankrupt (presumably!) on Wednesday by creditor, which in a way is a good thing as it should release me from a business lease and the associated business rates which it has been crippling me to pay for the last few years (sale of property fell through a couple of times, property now worth diddlysquat so more than happy to give to OR)
I have a couple of questions:
been paid today and am paid monthly. It`s gone into my account as I left it too late to try and ask payroll to pay it into someone elses account for me (I also didn`t think of anyone I trusted enough to accept my salary until too late!). Will the OR take a dim view of me emptying my account before Wednesday so that I have enough cash to live on through the month? If s/he will take a dim view, how am I supposed to exist for the rest of the month? Any ideas greatly received.
Also, how long is it generally before the OR does the telephone or face to face interview? I`m sure that given my earnings I will have to pay a fair bit, but I`m kind of in limbo trying to work out whether I should go out and panic buy tins of food and coal (I`m only half joking) (Actually, no I`m not joking at all.... I will be filling my food cupboards as if the Blitz is restarting as soon as Aldi`s opens in the morning)
Also, the main debt is a debt for which my ex partner was jointly and severally liable for (he was made bankrupt last month and will be repaying a fair whack each month). I have managed to keep up payments on every thing else (although not got any further forward in 7 years). If they therefore take for example, 4 grand a year off him and 6 grand a year off me for three years but the total liability for the main debtor was only 18 grand between us..... ignoring the complications of a loan and a credit card that I will default on now by way of being bankrupt.... will they continue to pursue both of us for the full 18 thousand each therby meaning that the creditor could potentially end up with more than we actually owe them in total?
Really not sure if this makes sense, I`ll run it by national debtline as soon as they are open too, but any advice would be more than welcomed. Am growing new grey hairs by the day as redundancy is also just round the damn corner...... AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!

Sorry Shelly your post appears to have got nissed, I do apologise about that, the board is moving so fast atm.Being made bankrupt (presumably!) on Wednesday by creditor, which in a way is a good thing as it should release me from a business lease and the associated business rates which it has been crippling me to pay for the last few years (sale of property fell through a couple of times, property now worth diddlysquat so more than happy to give to OR)

If s/he will take a dim view, how am I supposed to exist for the rest of the month? Any ideas greatly received. Just take the money out of the bank, enough to cover reasonable living costs. On Monday ring the C0-op and open a Cashminder account.

Also your DH SoA.

There is also the OR's fees to add on top of all this as well. They get first dibs on the money. Then all your creditors are paid.

Well if you are made redundant then you will not be paying an IPA and I am assuming your DH's SoA will change as you are not contributing as much to the joint household bills.
Have as chat with NDL as well and double check what I have said. But as you probably know they are really busy atm and are taking ages to answer the phone, so be very patient and have a cuppa nearby as you sit with your finger on redial.

We cleared our bank accounts of every penny we had in the days leading up to BR.
Also, how long is it generally before the OR does the telephone or face to face interview? Bit of a piece of string question I'm afraid. Ours took 2 weeks but it might be longer now as they're probably busier.I`m sure that given my earnings I will have to pay a fair bit, but I`m kind of in limbo trying to work out whether I should go out and panic buy tins of food and coal (I`m only half joking) (Actually, no I`m not joking at all.... Hi Shelly,
Have answered a couple of your questions above. HTH a little.
Good luck with Wednesday
As TF said, pop up your SOA when you've got a minute and let us have a look for you
You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

I would also say take out every penny and if asked just tell the truth - it is money you need to live on for the month. I certainly wouldn't risk it being taken by the OR and we have seen that happen on here.

I`ll pop my SOA up tomorrow..... By the way should I have had any forms to fill in? I haven`t had anything, apart from the form giving me my court date...
Also, as its someone making me bankrupt and I`m not disputing it, do I need to go to court (I only ask cos I`d misread the date, thought it was Thursday and arranged work accordingly. It`s apparently blinkin Wednesday, which is due to be rather a busy day)
Thanks for advice so far. It won`t take me many trips to the cash point to empty the account. Not now I`ve made sure the rent`s paid for the next month. Together with the gas and the leccy.0 -
Good for you for getting ahead on bills!
