totally a tecnhophobe, so please forgive me if I'm getting this all mixed up, but I've just bought an MP3 player (only a cheapie) but want a docking station/speakers for it which can also play CD's (and ideally radio?).
I want to be able to play the music from my mp3 around the house, but also play the ocassional kids cd etc.
Have googled and ebay'ed but am not getting very far.....any ideas? Do these things exist?
Hope someone out there can help- thanks in advance

I had quite a decent MP3 player (Creative) and then bought a DAb radio with docking station. The dock said it suited "ipods and all mp3 players". But the actual dock (usually a little socket, perhaps in a slide out drawer) only fits the pins on an actual ipod. To connect other brands, you connect a cable (usually supplied) from the mp3 headphone socket to another socket on the docking station.
This worked for me, but the volume was reallly poor, and of course the remote control on the docking station wouldn't work any of the menus on the mp3.
ANyway..... my mp3 broke under warranty, so returned it, spent a bit more, & got an ipod nano. I HATE big companies that monopolise things, but the ipod is brilliant... seats neatly in the dock, no other cables req'd, and the remote control of the dock works the ipod too.
So.... your cheapo mp3 may not get get a brilliant result even if you do buy a dock, but good luck trying. I did see some in ALDI for about £20 last week (funky round shape) but that was a dosk only, not with a cd as well.
Give me a shout if you need to know more....0 -
Thanks for that ...the cheapy mp3 player arrived today with a scratched screen, so might well have to give in and get an ipod after all!

Cheap, decent docks don't really exist, if you've got an ear for sound quality.
The only CD/docking stations i know of are part of hifi systems, like denon, roberts, teac et al.
I don't know what to suggest. If you want a decent portable dock, go for altec lansing and use your dvd player for kid's CDs?0
