HRP for Forces wives?

Hello, I wonder if anyone can answer this slightly unusual query?

When HRP first came in, my family and I were living in Germany as my husband was in the Army. We came back to the UK in September 1982.

When we were abroad, my Child Benefit (or Family Allowance as it was then called) had to be paid with my husband's salary, as this was the only way it could be paid in those days.

Does this mean that I would not be classed as the Family Allowance payee, and would therefore not qualify for HRP from 1978 - 82? Or are there special arrangements for Forces families, as i know there are in many other instances?

I'd be most grateful for any advice. I know I should be able to find out from DWP, but have a suspicion it would be difficult to track down someone who either knew the answer, or knew who I needed to talk to! :D

TIA

ivyleaf

If the Child Benefit was in your name , although paid via your hsubands salary, the HRP will be credited to your NI record.

HRP is actually one of the easier things to track down and sort out

As robyne says, get a pensions forecast, all of the details will be there.

    Apply online at https://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk or call 0845 3000 168
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Many thanks folks! I think I will indeed apply for a Pension forecast. Special thanks CIS - about it still being in my name - that was what I was confused about. but as you say, if it was in my name the HRP should have been credited to me.
