Gardeners Knowledge needed for Wedding Favours

Hi Everyone,
I am getting married in May and like all of us..the budget is tight!
I have had an idea for wedding favours. I went to Thomasina Myers mexican canteen recently and one of the promo items was a seed stick of chillies (YUM:rolleyes: ) very much like you used to get a card of matches. I have had a look on E bay but there is only one seed stick seller and I thought they were a bit pricey.
Does anyone know where I could buy these? I need around 120 of them.
Alternativley, I will have a pop at getting some nice favour envelopes and putting seeds in for a flower or chillies myself. I really need a bit of Green Finger Knowledge. What would be the best seeds to put in at this time of year that I can buy a reasonable amount of in bulk?
My other half thinks it is soppy to put on the envelope about our blooming love! or watching the love grow... hee hee I have conceded to too much and I think the day should have a bit of Luvvey Dovvey!!!

Hi'
I have seen quite a few places doing those seed strips, but they are quite pricey. Maybe you would be better getting some tiny envelopes, ( I think plastic is no good for seeds), and splitting a few big packs of seeds between them. You could always pop them into a little favour bag, or a bigger envelope with a little bit of 'how to grow' info on one side. You could even put the guests name on the other side and double it as a place card.
Most packs of seeds have pointers on the back for the best time for planting them too.0 -
I got some at Xmas from Tickseeds: http://www.tickseed.co.uk/party-loot-bags-for-childrens-parties-11220-0.html
but I can't see them on there now, Might be worth emailing them as they have very good customer service and are very cheap.
Failing that Netto sells packets of seeds for about 25p. They don't look cheapo and germinate well.0 -
i made seed envelopes for my tables as well, i just designed them from the cut off thick paper from the invites inserts. I put our details and a poem on them, then just collected cheep packs of seeds, mixed them together and a spoon full in each, hey presto, there was a beautiful favour. I've had so many compliments about them and they weren't that expensive.0

I love the idea of giving seeds as favours.. and the symbol of 'watching love grow'.. it's a very similar idea to what we were thinking of doing. I found this paper, which has seeds in that you can plant. My idea is to cut the paper up and use it as the place names, with the explanation written on the back. At the moment, I'm trying to see if I can find the paper cheaper anywhere else, as it's a little pricey! Good luck with your favours x
Edit: Cheaper Paper!0
