A reporter from the Wall Street Journal is writing an article about the practice of charging orders, which turn unsecured debt into secured debt. It's illustrating the practices that banks are using towards consumers to recover funds, even as they have received billions in taxpayer support.
She looking to speak to people who have received charging orders on unsecured debt.
She asked me to post the following. If you're interested, please email her.
I am a reporter for a US paper, researching an article on the practices that UK banks are using to recover debts, including charging orders. I am hoping to hear from people who have received a charging order recently from a major UK bank or its solicitors, and whether or not the order took you by surprise, if you contested it, and if you have now have a charge on your home.
I am hoping for someone to speak on the record, but if you would like to talk to me confidentially that is OK too.
