aww hun sorry to hear that. Think there might be better advice on the old fashioned board or the health board or maybe search the forums? I'm sure another peep will be along with more advice soon.
    Hope you feel better soon

I would find the money for it but buy a cheaper brand (ask in Boots behind the counter) or buy a tub of live yogurt!

Go to the chemists and ask them if they'll sell you some clotrimazole cream over the counter - Canestan is just an expensive brand name and the non-branded stuff is much cheaper (if you got a prescription from the doctor that just said 'clotrimazole' you'd get one of the cheaper brands rather than Canestan from the pharmacist). I used to work as a dispensing assistant and we would often offer it to people rather than them spending a fortune - I seem to remember it was about £2-3 a tube.

If you can't stretch to that, then natural yoghurt can help (yes, applied, not eaten) or VERY well diluted tea tree oil in water used externally as this is anti-fungal.

  • Angeldiva, have u tried natural yoghurt it only costs about 50p dooesnt need to be an expensive brand, ive heard of people trying it but no idea wither it works but its something in the natural yoghurt which is meant help, if only i could remember what it is. Will post back if i remember it.

Another thing if your on a low income the chemist can also give the product on Direct Care where u wouldnt need to pay for it the caneston that is.

As another thing to go with the topical remedies, I would cut out sugar and wheat from your diet (including alcohol) as this feeds the infection. Also buy some bio-yogurt to eat - make sure it has the healthy - helpful bacteria!

I had a problem with recurrent infections a while ago and found that the treatment combined with above really helped in getting rid of it.

I totally feel for you, it is the worst!

    Get well soon!

Cut out anything yeast based or high in sugar until it clears up.

The live yoghurt does work and cools the infected area.

God bless ya. i think we have all bee there and we feel your pain.
