Welcome Financial Services

I have a loan with WFS, I've been a good customer for some years now and my monthly repayments always met via direct debit.

I''ve had a few problems recently with my bank and wasn't happy so I decided to open another account, in between which I wrote to WFS informing them of this and quoting the new bank details for them to set up direct debit. I also mentioned that I would have to make payment for January via my debit card and this would be made no later than 30 January (my direct debit normally comes out on 24 of the month so we are only talking 6 days late, not even that).

Imagine my horror then, to have a voicemail left on my mobile yesterday to say that 'this wasn't acceptable or good enough and that the operator would be calling to my residence to take payment' if I didn't contact them immediately!

Are they allowed to use such bully boy tactics? I wouldn't have thought they (the company/telephone operator themselves) could threaten to call at your property for payment? Can they? I thought that was only after default when they passed the debt to a collection agency?

Grateful for opinions please.

If you have arranged to make the payment i would phone the local office and make them aware of the arrangement. If you are making the payment today or tomorrow there really should be no problem.
