Do many PCs come with Windows CDs?

Is it common to receive disks for Windows and other 'factory installed' software such as MS Office?

If not, what are the alternatives when it comes to re-installing the software after having wiped the drive clean?

Hello,

Yes providing you bought your PC from the original manufacturer then they will usually supply you with all the software CD's for your computer to properly function. This usually includes the Operating System and basic utility programs etc. etc.

I'm not quite sure what you want to do or buy but...

You will often only get a Windows restore CD that will set the computer back to it's factory settings. After a clean install you won't be able to use this and will need a full Windows CD , you may be able to get this from the place you bought the computer although I'm not too sure. The rest of your software should hopefully come on full install cd's.
For most software though there are plentiful free alternatives that are often better. Try looking at the sourceforge website for what you need.
