Too many people are dying in needless accidents on British farms. Parents. Grandparents. Children. In the last ten years, 455 people went out in the morning and never came home.
For all the information you need to make and keep your promise - including a copy of How lives are lost on British farms - please complete this form today.

I live on a farm and cannot really see that these will serve as a obvious warning especially as farmers use string everywhere anyway. Families brought up on farms are savvi to the dangers as a way of life. I find that problems normally occured with people coming on the farm thus normally try to discourage the kid's friends coming unless constantly supervised (which is not always humanly possible).
If these knots save lives then they are a good thing but it strikes me as a bit gimicky. I suppose they thought if they were made of string they would appeal to farmers, though I think they are slightly patronising.
Just my thoughts....I don't know what others think.....Thanks for posting it! I hope it is useful to others.......

Saw this on the news...f.armers should apply for loads and attach them to all the gates that can be left open by ramblers etc.... now the news has told us all what they are for..might be more useful to remind the public how dangerous farms can be..Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I agree, I think they're wasting money targeting totally the wrong people. I wonder just how much it cost them to come up with this idea and design that knot, I bet someone got paid tens of thousands. Then add how much each knot costs to make and post out. Plus who's making them, here or overseas? Specially now when we're being told to cut waste they (the government and their various departments) should be the ones leading by example first. It'd be a good idea to get as many as possible and dump the lot in protest on their doorstep, telling them to get knotted.0

I do hope they're made from biodegradable string, not the horrible polypropylene stuff - I wouldn't want the stray ones getting caught up in swan's feet or anything....Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

There's a point what if some poor farm animal swallows the damn thing? Then again, what if the thing falls into the very machinery it's supposed to be warning of and actually cause an accident or damage it?0

Ive got to admit, I love freebies but I think I'll leave this one, I found it quite chilling in a 'blair witchy' kind of way!!! Its not offensive but cant see the real benefit, maybe its raised wareness of the dangers in a famers environment though? xxxThis above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
