ISA with CO-OP.

Hi all. I'm emailing regarding a thread from several days ago from a MSE member asking about ISAs post BR.
I contacted my CO-OP bank yesterday morning as I was unable to log on to internet banking, that was swiftly sorted. The telephonist asked if I would be interested in an ISA, I replied I opened the account as I am intending on going BR shortly, and I didn't think I would be allowed to have one, even though it would make sense to save for a change. He said I would be entitled to have an ISA with the CO-OP regardless of going BR.
Does anyone know the ins and outs of whether BRs can have ISAs? His customer service was second to none but I'm concerned he may not be fully jammed up with BRs and asked me about an ISA as a regular solvent customer.
Any thoughts appreciated!:D
