My car is only worth 250.00 and the OR is insisting they want it, I live in the sticks on my own with no other means of transport and the nearest bus stop is 1.5 miles away but because my job is a 15 /20 min walk away they deem I do not need a car, so for shopping, emergencies etc I am stumped! I went Bankrupt on 16th December had my OR interview in the first week of January within 45 minutes of the end of the interview someone rang me to advise that they will be calling me giving me 24 hours notice to collect the car. Up to yet I have not had the call though.
That is soooo harsh. I feel really sorry for you :-(
It will cost them more than the car is worth to take it away and resell it. There is absolutely no logic in that.
My car is only worth £450, need it for work and out-of-county hospital appointments so I will be joining you up S**t Creek if they take mine too.

My car was only worth £300. I am not working due to depression and did tell the OR that I really relied on it as I hardly ever get out so it is a lifeline for me, but it was taken two days after I went BR. Just depends what OR you get I suppose and if they are in a generous mood."Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels"

Its up to you, if you feel like no news is good news, then stay low. But if it is worrying you, then contact the OR."Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels"

Not everyone has to make an offer to keep their car, ORs exempt a lot of them. Its on a need basis though and not what would make like more convenient. Its a shame you weren't able to keep your car Lisa but it wasn't used for work which is why your OR didn't let you keep it.

What value you put in the SOA for a car? Is it the poor condition price?"What does not kill you makes you stronger"0

Is your car in poor condition? I'd probably put the mid-range price unless it is in poor condition.

No its in showroom condition but I'm not telling the OR that! I guess mid-price would be OK. I asked as someone said the OR take the Poor Condition price for valuation."What does not kill you makes you stronger"0
