Nationwide - mortgage in 2 parts question

I have a Nationwide mortgage in 2 parts. The first is on a fixed rate for a few years yet, the 'advance' (that I took when I moved to another house) is due for renewal at the moment.
This may be a silly question
but can I move the 'advance' to another bank/building society if there are better offers?
Thanks

No - mortgage lenders will demand to have the 'first charge' on the property - in your case, Nationwide have this, and other lenders wouldn't take on the other bit without the 'first charge'.
When I was in your position a few years ago, I went onto the BMR with the advance(s) until the longest fix ended, and I could move the whole mortgage account to another lender.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0
