Here goes, I have been back in the nhs 3 months. My line manager is in my opninion a complte ****h. She barely acknowledges my presence, hasn't once asked if I am settling in OK, & is rude & aggresive in her approach towards me when I ask anything. The atmosphere at times is horrendous, hormonal is an under statement!!! I am spoken to like an idiot & treated like dirt. A collegue has said that I have taken alot of !!!!!! since i've ben there. She has had enough & has managed to get another post with promotion!!
No chance for me as I've only returned after 18yrs away from the NHS. Have still been working as a nurse but in other areas. Wish I had never returned.
I am getting stomach ache & am waking earlier every day, worrying what the day will bring. I only work 3 days a week but I dread every one I go in. also I am sometimes given all my shifts in a week as late shifts which I feel is a little unfair.
2 days ago I was accused of upsetting another nurse in the next dept. All I had done was to ask a simple ? as to why she didn't check some drugs. I was chatting to her about her role within our dept.My manager told me I had no right to have said it, when I tryied to explain, I was told not to get arsey with her as she was only passing on the info!!!. She galred at me as if daring me to answer. I wanted to either slap her face or burst into tears. I have also ben refused annual leave when I requested it, she didn't like it when I asked why. This may seem trivial, but it is making me ill. I am not learning as much as I sholud be on the unit & am really scared when I am allowed to have more pt contact I will make mistakes. I have joined a union for morale support but obs can't phone them the same day I join!!!!
What makes it worse I turned down another job outside the NHS in favour of this one, thinking it would be good to be back in the NHS, what a joke.
Any advice please

this is totally unacceptable, is there a union rep in your work place? is there a manager above her you could see?, she is making you feel uncomfortable by bullying you , this needs sorting ASAP!0

Similar thing happened. As a medical secretary at the time for the NHS she was bought it to reduce waiting lists. She didn't care how or when they needed to be bought down ASAP. Of course I did everything I practically could but she raised her voice at me often. During a meeting one day she was so rude to me and I burst into tears running out of the room. I stood up and said I don't like you and you have no right to treat people as you do. She came to appologise but I told her to leave me alone and that I would email if I had anything to tell her! My consultant advised me to put a complaint in which I did do but by that time she had already left.
Is your manager like this with anyone else? Perhaps put a complaint in....and don't worry it has to remain confidential. I may be a shock to her and she will come to realise that treating you like rubbish is not right.
Good luck.

This is plain bullying.
Your trust should have a policy on dealing with it.
See your union rep.

is there a grievance procedure in the NHS? UNION? Join today most have part timer rates and can help you with subs. you will feel better just by knowing someone is on your side.
As a last resort you could chuck a full up bed pan over her minging face on your way out! I would but then I am bloke and take no nonsense from ignorant bosses job or no job. Your health comes first before any job.0
