How do I find out how much my property is worth for re-mortgage purposes?

Is there any way of doing this without starting the re-mortgage process? I'm looking to re-mortgage as NR have told me they will not let me re-mortgage with them but I want to have an idea about how much my house is worth.

if no recent sales of similiarv in area -
this might help http://www.nationwide.co.uk/hpi/
Personally I fimnd asking an agent ( be truthful- don't waste their time , they won't need to come out , but will likely know your road , so close enough for "a guide" )Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Ultimately it depends on the valuer who comes to look at your property. You could look at nethouseprices to get an idea of how much similar properties have gone for recently.
Or you could put your details into
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/hpi/ and see what it says - though it is very inaccurate for my personal circumstances as it overvalues my property by some margin.0 -
We recently had this issue.
We looked at the sites usggested then added a little for the good condition of our house and the fact it is a little bigger than some in the road. We then submitted a mortgage app based on that figure and the valuers came round and valued it at exactly the same.
Seems the websites give a good starting for your postcode but you have to adjust for local factors yourself.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -

it's true.
If is pouring with rain and he got stuck in traffic on the way.......expect the worse.
If it's Friday afternoon and he's calling in on his way home from the pub....he'll probably value it at whatever you want :rotfl:
OK, that's not quite true, but it amazes me how it can differ from valuer to valuer.I am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
