Tax code help

in Cutting tax
Basically I don’t think I’m on the right tax code. Ill try and keep it simple.
Job 1 was temp. I didn’t earn over 5k or whatever is it. It was my first job and the duration of it was something like Nov 06 to March 07, I filled out a p46 I think. When I finished they sent me a p45, which I lost………
I sign on JSA. I had no idea I should have given them my p45, they didn’t say, ive never signed on before etc. Besides, I didn’t have one to give them anyway.
I was still oblivious tbh about tax at this point. I found out a few weeks ago, if the job centre don’t have your p45 they automatically put you on an emergency tax code.
I signed off JSA because I found another temp job. Job centre sent me a p45. This p45 didn’t get to my new employer until after the first wage. My first wage was taxed using BR C-U-M. The rest of my weekly wages were taxed using 603L WK 1 i think. This employer then sent me a p45 with tax code 603L X, which I’ve now got.
Now, this probably all went tits up when I lost my first p45. But, is this the right tax code………..
If not, how do I go about changing it.
Thanks

For 07-8 you may be due a refund and you should contact your tax office to enquire about this.
For the current year, it looks as if you have now left your job. Are you signing on? If so, you need to give your P45 to the JC. Then contact your tax office and tell them your work history this tax year. They will issue a cumulative code to the JC who will make a refund when you sign off.
if you are not signing on, you cannot get a code change until you start another job - again you would need to contact your new tax office with info on your income this year to enable them to issue a code to your new employer.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -
