This is a great bargain for anyone who takes part in a lot of sport. They should not really be used for general drinking as there is a large amount of carbohydrate that would not be burned off, this then turns to fat! So for anyone who plays a lot of sport this is great. Just word of warning for everyone else saving pounds, you mave be adding these pounds elsewhere!CC £1700/£1477 HSBC Acc. £-1750/£400Barclay Acc. £-2009/£-1280 / A & L Acc. £-908 £0!! / Finance £-1008 £-590 / Loan £8000 £8000(JANUARY 09 DEBT/ NOW)0

My boys take these to school so I stocked up, got six packs of twelve for £6. Had to go to Tesco afterwards and checked they are charging 89p a bottle!
Definitely prefer this price, a bargain.
How old are your boys? I work for GSK(who manufacture Lucozade) they are not suitable for children & I'd be amazed if schools allowed it on the premises as even regular Lucozade is not allowed. If children try to purchase this in a supermarket, they would be refused.0 -

Sorry that sounds like bull, why would lucozade be unsuitable for children regular or otherwise, if kids can buy red bull then they can buy lucozade. I don't work for GSK but I don't need to, they say themselves that it is unsuitable for children aged two or younger due to its concentrated nature so not school age kids by any means. Allowed it on the premises to be sold, perhaps not due to the phasing out of drinks with high sugar content, allowed on the premises as a packed lunch? Don't see why not.0 -

What sounds like bull? The fact I work for GSK or the fact that some schools don't allow Lucozade or Red bull on the premises? I can assure you it's true. Everyday during the course of my work, I hear kid's being asked for id to buy Red Bull/Lucozade Alert. Sainsburys is one of the stores that requires you are 16 to buy it & also many smaller stores like Spar for example. Maybe it's regional, maybe it's up to the managers or schools discretion. My kids could have it for free but were not allowed to take it to their school.0 -
The main jist is that the drinks are designed for Sports Athletes who need to replace lost carbohydrates. These athletes lose a lot of salt, amongst other particulars. Because of this lucozades contain enough electrolytes e.g sodium, pottasium, chloride, to ensure the sports person taken them has enough energy in their body to replace fluids lost. (This is why a lot of marathon runners kept collapsing a few years back as they did not replace fluids and salts left with salts, rather just water so they did not have a good salt balance).
The reason they are not advised for younger people are the electrolyte and sugar amount. Although I should add that it is not proven that kids would react bad to this, as Lucozade complete a large amount of research on their products but an investigation into the negative effects of lucozade on children could not be completed as it is unethical.
Hope that helpsCC £1700/£1477 HSBC Acc. £-1750/£400Barclay Acc. £-2009/£-1280 / A & L Acc. £-908 £0!! / Finance £-1008 £-590 / Loan £8000 £8000(JANUARY 09 DEBT/ NOW)0 -
I've never heard of any kids being ID'd for buying Red bull, Lucozade or any other Energy drink for that matter.
They dont flag up on supermarket tills as needing ID or authorisation like alcohol or medicines.
Note to kids: If you want energy drinks go through self serve tills
Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!
