Had OR interview today.

Hi you lot.
Just wanted to let you all know how OH and I got on today.
OH spent 1 hour 15mins on the phone and I spent 48mins. The OR was very proffessional and actually quite nice. OR was very thorough and just doing their job really. We had to go through all the debt and explain what each bit was for what it paid for, when we sold vehicles, what that money was then used for and so on and so forth. It was quite an interrogation to say the least. I think OR was just trying to establish if we entered into borrowing money knowing that we could always go bankrupt. We didnt and never had even considered it untill December. On one hand it was absolutely awfull, but as OR was actually very good, stern, but very plesant, we actually feel that we have just managed to stumble over the next hurdle.
The reason I say that is because OR still needs us to provide more info on what the loan we got recently was used for (we got the loan just over a year ago) I need to go through and send a year of bank statements so they can see where the money went
. I can see where the OR is coming from and they are just doing their job, it made us, however, feel really bad especially when they asked what we spent on what, we couldn't remember. How bad is that:embarasse , but we obviously need to learn how to deal with our money alot better than we have before. I am looking forward to not having credit and learning to save and spend wisely.
I just thought someone out there may like to hear an experience on an OR interview. Basically there are alot of questions to answer and aslong as you are truthful and as helpful as you can be then the right outcome will out. Have a glass of water, your SOA a pencil and a quiet room.
The other thing is that I am employed and self employed so had to take into account tools of the trade. Even though my wages from self employed is not that great, it is still something and I am allowed to keep tools and carry on trading. I started self employment as wages were reducing in employment, and I can work around my childs holidays.
They are not horrid and wont take everything away from you, but will make sure that you are not going into anything lightly and will create an IPA according to circumstances and fairness.
They didnt allow medical insurance, holidays, emergencies, mobile phones, sky and pet costs, but then they didnt take into account any commission that I may get unless it goes over a certain amount. I did not get an IPA and my OH got an IPA of 100 quid.
Apart from the small things that I have to get together for the OR, this is a new start from here and from now on we will do things properly. :A
Good luck to all those who need to go the bankruptcy route and on here you will find an array of help. If it wasnt for the guys on here :A who helped us and answered our questions I dont know where I would be. It has been a very hard road for us, but we now have a fresh start. We have learnt our lesson and look forward to the future and quality time together. I am sorry that I cannot say it is a breeze, however you do get through it and will come out the other side. I am also sorry that this is so long, i didn't mean to ramble so much. Hope it helps tho. One key thing, DONT RAMBLE, IN SILENT INTERVALS, TO THE OR lol:rotfl:
Good luck and all the best to you all for 2009

Congratulations on getting through it. You did really well.
What pet costs did you have down? Holidays was a bit harsh as well and mobiles unless they were excessive.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Thank you don and tigerfeet.
We had 64 for pet costs, a bit high however that is 16 a month for dog food (2 dogs) 12 month for cat food ( 1 cat ) 8 month for guinea pig food ( 2 ) 5 for flea and worm treatment and 23 for the 2 dogs insurance.
mobiles were 2 lots of 30 quid  so I suppose a little high... naughty naughty.:p0 -
Thanks for that OW.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Glad it's all over for you. :j
I can see why they disallowed the pet food, it's usually included in housekeeping and you only claim extra for insurance/ongoing vets bills.
Phones are usually £60 in total for home and mobiles together.
Holidays was a bit harsh though.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Hi Peachy, thank you. In hindsight I see that I should have put the pet food and wormer in the houskeeping, however the yearly boosters I hadnt put in at all and mentioned this on our SOA. I should have just put 23 in for the insurance under pet costs.
Our land line was 28 so should have just put that plus one lot of 30 for mobiles to make it 58 in total.
I thought the holidays were harsh, but then they didn't take my commission into account, however that is pretty much unacheivable nowadays....:o0 -
