Question about medical certificate

Been off work for a week due to an injury on my foot which happened at work. I am unale to be on my feet for more than a couple of minutes As my job involves me to be on my feet all the time, my employer wants a doctor's note for absenses longer than a week.

My question is does my GP issue a sick note from day 1 of being off work or day 1 week 1 of my absense with sending a self cert? I have been employed at the employers for 2.5 months

The longest I have been off work previously was 4 days and a self cert was needed.

The issue it from when they see you i.e. you need to see them day one of the period after your self cert expires. GPs generally won't backdate certificates and only write them from the day that they see you.
For everything else, there's MSE :T

And the injury is RIDDOR reportable.
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • My employer filled in the RIDDOR report with me over the phone earlier this week.
  • your GP will sign you off for however long they feel this is appropriate. You can self cert for 7 days but after that you need to provide your employer with a sick note.
