Computer won't start up - Bugcode usb driver blue screen

Hi
Everytime I start up my PC, a blue screen appears with a stop error code. These error codes seem to vary each time I start up.
On my latest start up I had the message:
bugcode_usb_driver
stop: 0x000000fe 0x00000004, 0x829b80e0, 0x80862658, 0x820163c8
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
It asks for me to go into Safe Mode. If I do this, what am I looking for?
I am using a Dell PC running Windows XP.
Thanks in advance

Thanks, but there have been no USB devices connected over the past couple of days when I have tried to start the PC.0

I can't actually get into Safe Mode (with or without networking).
It just takes me to the Blue Screen again.
I have tried starting up again. It now runs a chk dsk (or something similar) and then went to the blue screen but this time the error message is saying:
Page Fault in Non Page Area.0 -
Sorry for my ignorance, but how do you disable the USB in the bios?
Thanks0
