OH lost job - need money asap!

Hi,

My OH recently lost his job and he now needs to find a temporary job asap whilst he looks for a more permanent one. Is it possible to get a job by next week doing some kind of work, temp/casual basis? If so what kind of work is available and where is the best place to look, or am I being unrealistic!!! Please advise.

With most party plan you can get working straight away.
  • Sorry to hear that blondy... I agree about employment agencies, they should have something fairly immediate. I hope your OH finds something soon.

Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
  • If you're willing to do anything, you can find a job easily.

All this nonsense about a job being hard to find in the UK is just that - nonsense.
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)
    sitting on the floor.
    Their
books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.
  • Have you thought about doing Party plan yourself? I am with PartyLite. There is no cash outlay as with other things. You also keep the £300 kit.

My DH lost his job last year. There is nothing out there for what he is looking for and struggeling to find other things, as he is viewed as over qualified!!
He is currently supporting me in this whilst still seeking something else.

I think it depends on where in the country you are. In the right areas it's easy to go into an employment agency and have a job within the week. Sometimes it may be that they can only get you a days work here and there and you have to be really flexible, othertimes they can get you something for a week or two, or even a month. It's worth trying employment agencies. Make sure he goes in with a CV so that there aren't unneccesary delays.
Some agencies specialise in different areas so he should go to the ones that require the skills that he has first but not to discount the other agencies because sometimes they can get you unskilled work that anyone can do.
I would recommend Office Angels if he has any office experience. I worked for them for a couple of months when I graduated and as soon as one assignment finished they would have me another the next day.
    Good luck!

i would possibly omit a few qualifications from my cv if i were over qualified for certain roles. tailor the cv to the differetn jobs.

i don't think that is as bad as adding qualifications you havn't got to make yourself look better.
