A bit of advice needed

Hi all just wondering if any of you could help me.
I currently own a 30% share in a shared ownership 2 bedroom flat where I live by myself and bought November 2007 before the property market went downhill. I met my partner over a year ago who owns his own property with help and a large deposit from his parents. It's come to the stage where we would like to buy together. He has a really good credit record but I was making reduced payments on my credit card due to not being paid for some work I did for a couple of months this year which has shown on my credit report.
So, what I would like to know is do you think my credit score will stop us getting a mortgage- my fixed rate ends this nov- I have no defaults or ccj's and normally pay everything on time. Do you think we should wait a while to apply for a mortgage will a few more months of 'green dots' on my credit file make a difference?
Many thanks
