closing dates for applications

hi my dh has applied for a job last week and the closing date for applications is the 9th of feb ,does this usually mean that you will not hear anything from the company until the closing date has passed ,

    Not necessarily - though if they are proposing to contact candidates before the closing date they are likely to have included something to that effect in the advertisement. For instance, they may say that the vacancy will be closed early if they receive sufficient responses.

    It is good to get an application in promptly just in case they close early.

    thanks for that it didnt say any thing in the advertisement so we will just have to wait and see and hope for the best
  • check their ad / job spec- usually only people caleld for interviews would be contacted.

    if no joy 3/4 weeks after closing date, may be worth sending an email to enqiure, but dont hold yer breath!
    Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

    Depending on the job you should have some sort of contact saying that the application has been recieved, but you won't here anything more than that before the deadline. But then again I do most of my applying online and emails are cheap.
