Town Hall Wedding

Hi there,

Me & my partner have decided on May 2010 as our wedding. We have decided to get married in the town hall as neither of us are religious and we felt it was hypocritical to attend a church just so you could get married in it.

Anyway, we were looking at the website for the local town hall, and alfter a couple of failed phone calls aswell we are no closer to a price estimate for this.

Does anyone have any idea how much a town hall ceremony costs, ball park figure?

Are you getting married in the UK or abroad?

In the UK it is mainly registry offices where you get married (these may or may not be in the town hall). You can always have a civil service at a licensed venue e.g. hotel, country house or conference centre.

Town Hall weddings are more usual abroad and especially in Italy.

Yeah there is a registry office within the town hall where civil ceremonies are held, sorry for making a confusing post. The registry office is inside the town hall.
  • Hubby and I got married in a registry office and it cost approx £120 to do so although prices may differ in certain areas.

    Hiya,
    Which town hall is it?

For comparison, our registry office charges £60 Mon-Thurs, £75 Friday, £100 Saturdays up to 12.30pm, £175 Saturdays after 1pm, £200 Sundays.
  • Ive just had a look and to give notice is £30 each for you and your husband to be.
Notice of marriage will be displayed in the registry office admin area.

Each registry office charges a different amount depending on the size of the rooms and day/ time of ceremony. For example City of Westminster charge from £70 per room increasing to £200+ for their larger rooms.

Hope you can get the info you need.
