Tax/ NI dilemmas

Hi,
This month became self employed after being employed fulltime. I'm registered as self employed, with a DD coming out my account each month for NI of £2.30pw.

However, this week I've taken a part time job in my local pub, which will be on payroll. I'm now not sure what I should be doing. - Will I be paying NI for both jobs? I'm really confused. If I'm paying NI for the part time job, do I also need to pay for my self employed job?

Another thing. In the period from 1st April 08 - present, I've been charged more tax than I should have. Will I be able to claim any of this back, bearing in mind I won't be paying tax for my selfemployed job until next year?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, but I'm afraid it's not really making sense to me at the moment.

eta: I'm only going to be earning about £60pw (gross) for the part time job on payroll if that makes any difference?
Another query (sorry!!!) I've used this calculator http://listentotaxman.com/ to estimate how much I should put away each month to cover my tax and student loan payments at the end of the year. However, this adds on NI as well. Can I simply deduct the NI amounts to approximate how much I need to put away, if I'm already paying this each month?

Thanks in advance

You are a little confused about the various types of National Insurance.

    1) self Employed - you pay the £2.30 (Class2) as you have stated - these are compulsory. You also pay Class iv National Insurance on profits above the lower threshold - that is what you see on your calculation estimate.

    2) On £60 per week in your part time job you will have no liability for National Insurance (Class 1)

Thanks ceeforcat - I'm embarassed about how confused I've been getting. I guess I'm just very shocked at the amount I will be being taxed and NI and my student loan as well
