PLEASE HELP! Confused Student in need of transferring pension
Ru
Hello Readers,
I hope you can help me?
I left my job last summer, as I wanted to pursue further studies.
My former employer provided me with a pension on which managed to accrue about £2800.
I have now been told that I can transfer this pension and move to another provider and look into getting a personal pension.
I intend to make "small" contributions on a monthly basis.
I understand that I will need to see a financial advisor for this. However on contacting one Financial Advisor I was told that they charge a minimum of £500!!
Being on a student budget this isnt a possibility for me
Can anybody suggest alternatives?
I am very confused :-(
If I dont deal with the matter within two weeks, I will lose the £2800 as the pension provided by my former employer will expire! :embarasse
Many thanks for reading :A

Is it money purchase or final salary? If final salary you will almost certainly need to use an IFA.
if money purchase you dont need to. Although you could use a commission based IFA rather than fee.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). HI dunstonh,
Thanks for getting back to me. Really apreciate it!
I didnt purchase the pension, I got through my employer.....
So I assume I will have to go to an IFA....except the quote they gave me was of five hundred pounds!
I was hoping to find a cheaper soloution :-(
Take care,
