Discharged Bankruptcy ~ need some advice

I was declared bankrupt in March 2001 and was discharged March 2004. Applied for dischargment certificate and case was closed. This is all in Scotland if that makes in difference.
I have never since applied for any credit since..
I have two current accounts ~ and have done since 2003 and have never had any problems ~ over drawn, missed standing orders or direct debits.
I do have car insurance which I pay up monthly ~ never been missed & I understand that this is through a finance company.
Can any one tell me when this bankruptcy order is cleared from my credit file & where is the best place to try & start me off again with credit. As getting mixed advice on 'google' some got straight away ~ others were refused.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi VXR Lady
Your bankruptcy stays on your credit file for 6 years from date of hearing so should be off now!
You can check your credit file with experian or equifax if unsure.
Try a prepay credit card to start with and see the info on this site. They are good for repairing credit history.0 -
I have passed the 6 year mark and all traces of my bankruptcy have been removed by Experian and Equifax.
I have a problem with my Callcredit report. There is an HSBC bank account showing on there that was part of the bankruptcy so surely it should be off now?
It says 'Account state - satisfied' but the details show it as DF (default) for ten months. There are dates on it showing start 31.10.05 and end date 31.07.06 If it was satisfied by the bankruptcy in 2003 how are HSBC/Callcredit able to keep putting it on with recent dates?0 -

Thanks, hadn't seen that before. I don't know what HSBC were up to, but as the post says 'MANY instances where former creditors only close the account off several years after your discharge'.
I have got Callcredit to take off the bank account fairly easily. They wanted me to fill in another dissociation from my ex-wife. I sent them a copy of their own letter from 3 years ago saying it had been done.
Beware Callcredit! Have had similar problems with them in the past.
Thanks again,
Ray0
