Hi,
Really sorry but I don't know where to post this so I hope it's ok on the shopping board.
Basically last year I bought a fairly expensive designer wallet on sale. About 8 months later the little popper that closes the wallet popped off so I (having kept receipt etc) gave it to the company to have it repaired - literally I could have done it myself, it just needs to be screwed on.
Anyway, 2 months later I get a call saying they can't repair it or replace it. As such they'll give me a refund for what I've paid - I don't want a refund however as I don't really like anything instore and now sales are over I won't be able to afford anything anyway.
So I said never mind, the wallet is still useable, can I have it back and they said no! I've already said this is unacceptable, will write to head office and I will absolutely take this as far as it goes but I was wondering if anyone could advise me on my rights/have any suggestions on how to proceed.
Would be so so grateful,
SG

Not sure really, I guess they might well have disposed of it, if they couldn't repair it. I would personally take the refund and buy a new one, even if it's not as designer, at least it will be new and functioning.0

Thanks. The refund would be a gift voucher though...0

You are due a cash refund under Sale of Goods Act. Print out details http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/know-your-rights/ and show staff. Be very polite but insistant that usually works and tell them you will go to trading standards. If they have disposed of the item it can be difficult for them to fight a case if you go to trading standards.0
