That's the only thing they've said that I agree with ;-)lesley_mac wrote: »Further to previous letter(s) regarding the above (we asked about these previous letters as we do not recall receiving them he was very vague and mentioned something about September, November but claimed he did not have all the details) this is to notify you that in the absence of full payment of the outstanding balance by return, we now plan to close your file and report to the council. They will then give consideration to commencing further action which may include bankruptcy proceedings, or a Warrent for your immediate arrest. If you wish to avoid this possiblity contact us urgently.
Well this is just standard wheel spinning and bluffs, as you hopefully now know if you've been reading up on the bailiff posts here - I know you mention myself and Herbie but RAS and a good few others also give superb advice. If this is all you have there isn't really much to worry about here.
If it goes back to the council then you need to stick to the arrangement very carefully as purpleprincess says, but then from what you say you already plan to do that.lesley_mac wrote: »Can I take this chance also to say thank you to RobertoMoir and Herbie21. I read many posts by both of you last night after our visit and they really calmed my nerves and made me realise that the situation can be resolved. You are doing an amazing job in reassuring people during these hard times and it does not go unappreciated. It is nice to know where we stand and what we have to look out for so once again THANK YOU x
That's very kind of you, thank you.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Just a quick update to say today I have sent a letter to the bailiffs and to the council by first class recorded post. To the bailiffs I have requested a breakdown of the full amount that they are asking for and to the council I have requested a copy of the Liability Order. I have also explained to the council my situation, the threats of the bailiff to pay within 10 days etc and have requested that they take the debt back, I have confirmed to them that we will clear this debt by the end of February so it is before their end of tax year.
We have also made a first initial payment to the council in their offices today for £100 to show that we are serious.
Whilst there I found out that I may be able to apply for a discount in our council tax as I am a full time carer for my son and in receipt of carers allowance. We have picked up a form for this and will be handing it back in tomorrow.
Thank you again to everyone for all your messages of support and advice, I will carry on the thread and inform you of all replies we receive just in case it helps someone else in the future.
