                    hello,
just had a workman up to our house for a quote and he happened to look in our loft and said that we only had 50mm loft insulation and that the standard nowadays is 250mm. He said that grants may be available.
I went onto the energysavingtrust website but it is coming up that I dont qualify for a grant - we own our own house, neither my wife nor I am on benefits and we are under the age of 60.
Would this be correct?
Wondered if anyone had had their loft insulated recently and got a grant. Can you recommend a good company to do it? Or is it just as easy to buy it and fit it yourself?
We live in the newtownabbey area.
Thanks.

No idea about grants. Easy but I doubt it is worth the hassle to DIY. British Gas are advertising full loft insulation @ £249 to customers see http://www.britishgas.co.uk/energy-efficiency/products/home-insulation.html

Energy Savings Trust were doing grants for loft and cavity wall insulation (we both work and own the house) we got the one for cavity wall but done the loft insulation ourselves, got it from B&Q on BOGOF which worked out cheaper even with the grant available.
Tho at the moment im not sure if there are any grants left, give the Energy Saving Trust a call, they might be able to help.
I don't think the British Gas deal would be available to NI customers?Norn Iron club member - 2650 -
Agree with Jaime-V. We got Loft insulation done on the grant scheme and we own our house and don't get any Benifits. I figure we saved a whopping £12 by doing it through the grant scheme (Well that excluses the labour but if you do it yourself technically thats free...and it ain't exactly rocket science)0

Oh I think Homebase & B&Q are still doing special offers on loft insulation at the moment.
Edit.. (Other DIY, Hardware & Building Supply Stores & are available:rotfl: :rotfl: )0
