I always thought that the condition about declaring a second job was because of the Working Time Regulations which say that (except in certain jobs) you can only work a maximum of 48 hrs per week unless you choose to opt out.
Have a look at the ACAS and BERR websites - loads of info on those about contracts of employment, employment law etc.The independent woman's checklist for success :1. Look like a lady, 2.
