Trainee Manager job. need advice

I've seen a job advertised. It is for a trainee manager in a cosmetics store.
I have no management experience but have some experience working in a clothing store & bar work and supervisory position working with individuals who have learning difficulties & mental health issues. I have also been employed as an events co-ordinator in a local music venue before I left & went to Uni. I have deferred from Uni at the moment, so haven't completed a degree programme.
Is it worthwhile applying for this position?

I would say yes - stranger things have happened.
Sounds to me as though you will have acquired many transferable skills from your previous roles and that's what you will need to (succinctly) highlight in your application. Together with your love and in-depth knowledge of their brand of cosmetics
.
The key thing to note is that the position is is trainee - so you aren't expected to be ready-made.

They are asking for a CV & covering letter.0

Hi DMMDI,
Have you decided against resuming at Uni then? If you have, then this sounds like a reasonable option. But depends how the studies were going - maybe not too well if you have deferred.
Why not go for it in any case? Fate will play its hand - if you don't get it, get back to Uni - not too bad a place to be during a recession."Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" (Sir Winston Churchill)0 -
OK - that's good imo -preferable to some bog standard generic application form.
So get your CV polished and tweaked to emphasise the your main selling points but keep a little bit back to include in the body of your covering letter so that it has the edge over the boring applicants.

Deferred from Uni due to ill health & surgery.0 -
Probably not a good idea to mention you might go back as they may think they are wasting money training you if you may leave in 18 months....the_devil_made_me_do_it wrote: »Deferred from Uni due to ill health & surgery.Kavanne
Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

Ok, sent cv & covering letter to employer. I also included a stamped addressed envelope as I wanted an acknowledgement that my application had been received. Unfortunatly, I have had no reply from them, no acknowledgment nothing.
I guess I'm not going to hear from them at all. What do others think?0
