ripening green bananas ??

Hi ive bought a big bag of bananas last week, reduced of course :T
Ive had them on the window sill all week but they are still green and rock hard. does anyone know how to make them ripen faster ??

We stick them on top of the fridge freezer, the spotlights in the kitchen seem to ripen them up (the heat I think)

Put them in a plastic bag too - bananas give off a gas which ripens them so trap that in the bag to speed it up (and if you have any other fruit that needs ripening put that in the bag too as the gas will work on that too).

Keep checking the bag though as they may overripen and turn to mush if you don't keep an eye on it!
