  • Well Done!!!

    You deserve to celebrate!

What did you do when you walked out of the bank after paying that last debt in full? I'm sure the little happy dance you did was a fine example of what it feels like to be debt free!
  • AMAZING!!!

Well done ! Party time !

OH and I want to start a family but know that we can't til we are some way through clearing our debt.

Have even got him being more MSE when food shopping - so much so that he only buys stuff on offer or the cheaper version, so we are officially a MSE couple. Just need to make an impact on our CC's.

    WELL DONE AGAIN!

Enjoy your champers and I'll happily take a virtual glass!

The next goal is to save up to put a good deposit on a house for our little family, I feel like I have started on a good path now because of the changes I have made in the way I spend and now all that will be going into the savings.

The things that worked best for me was trying to always think do I want this or do I need it? I used to think that I just needed everything I wanted, but making that distinction made the real difference. I also try to to foster a healthy suspicion about anyone trying to get their hands on my money through enticing me to spend it. It really is amazing the tricks you become aware of. Lastly, and most importantly, my little girl made a difference because I realised that the money I was effectively wasting was money that could mean we had a nice place to live or money for her future rather than the quick fix of something new which quickly lost its shine. I guess I just went from short term to long term thinking.

Again, good luck everyone in getting to your debt free day, walking out and realising that I didn't owe anyone anything was (and is!) and amazingly liberating feeling.
