lillibet dripping it really *is* up to you. :D

I prefer to go with the classic interpretation of spending money ie if I get my purse out it's a spend and that's that.

Doing it this way has helped me be more organised about my shopping and finances - and life in general!

But if a regular spend is making you disheartened and being more organised wouldn't work to cut down the frequency of the spends then don't count it.

This challenge builds confidence by us taking control and not being helplessly buffetted by our finances.

It's meant to be empowering, it's not meant to make you feel bad - so choose the option that will make you feel better about yourself.

    That's how I see it anyway. :o:D

    Love Jacks xxx :D

Like you Jacks I am off today to buy ds's birthday present so definitely a spend day for me.

In answer to Lillibet Dripping -I don't include shopping in my NSDs, however, if I buy something like a bar of chocolate in that shopping then I count this as a spend day; however I am going to change this soon, as I have now got to grips with the NSD challenge so from next month I will include grocery shopping in my NSD challenge. Maybe you could see how it goes, try a month about and see what works best for you. If it doesn't work for me when I change then I will just change back again. Like Jacks xxx says, this challenge is meant to make you feel good and not bad, so you do what makes you feel best.

I have a bag of coins which I keep to give dd and ds for their clubs each month and if I go into this bag then I don't count this as they do something most days and I NEVER would have a NSD if I included this money each time.:D

    Morning all,

snow now turning to yucky brown slush stuff :( but at least I dont have to think about what to wear on my feet, it's just wellies, wellies, wellies every day  .

Lillibet - as others have said ; you make your own rules :D . I dont count any bills, direct debits or debt repayments. Although I save up for things such as fuel, car tax & DD's clubs, I still count them as spending as I do with groceries.

One of the wisest things I ever read on here was by Jacks xxx :A saying that a person had x amount to pay out on essentials ( ie mortgage, council tax etc) & that it was entirely up to them how they spent the remaining x amount. When I joined I thought that spending £200 a month on groceries for just me & DD was fine ... now I realise how unnecessary that was & that to my knowledge no one has ever died from the shame of eating cheap/value own brand stuff :o:D

I've paid £10 into the bank so Direct Debiting Disaster now Deflected otherwise it's gong to be another NSD for me, but wont confirm until later....anything could happen
  • Today was going to be a spend day but as I cannot get to the hospital appointment (X-ray) I am home again and working - so today will be a NSD - that is 4 for the month! But will only update my profile at the end of the day as QVC is on in the background and I may be tempted later! (I am human)
Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

Whoops - should have been a no-spend day yesterday, but ended up going to Co-op for mozerella and spinach and came out with a sticky toffee pudding and a bottle of wine (but no cheese or spinach)!!

The way I work my NSD's is - I don't count DD's etc coming out of the bank as spending; but I do count my weekly shopping and anything else in between, e.g. buying a stamp cancels out my NSD.

That means that I should be able to get at least 4 or 5 NSD's in a week if I stick to it properly!
