  • I think I'm on 2/15 but the only dosh I spent today was on salt after our neighbour used the rest of the grit we had to make a path to her snowman rather than down our ice covered steps!

I'm looking for a loophole here so does todays spend on salt for our ice covered steps count??;)

Oh and did I mention I fell on the above mentioned ice covered steps 4 times this morning and if I didn't pick up some salt I could have fallen 4 further times tonight?:D ;):p

    Hiya guys,

Day 3 and NSD number 2 for us. Having done a little shop yesterday we'll be ok for the rest of the week now if we continue to be "snowed in".

There's still no milkman, postman or dustmen today and my daughter's school remains closed.

One of the problems at her school is that very few teachers can afford to live in this area on a teacher's salary so they all have fairly lengthy commutes in from the neighbouring areas, in the dark, and at early hours of the morning.

With the roads getting more treacherous as the slush refreezes overnight and the public transport still completely out of action round here very few teachers will be able to make it in. With more snow falling as we speak and "Round Two" forecast for Thursday I fully expect my daughter to be off all week.

Our local shops haven't had their deliveries so the shelves are looking bare, but our Post Office managed a skeleton service today. (I had eBay parcels to post, but I don't count that as spends cos the buyers pay the postage.)

My sons gf works in a shop and she was told not to come in. With very few people able to get into town, and no new stock there's not much point in opening is there?

It's the oldies I feel sorry for -they daren't risk going out and having a fall. I don't blame the government the councils or the schools though. You can't spend money on snow readiness measures every day of every year that you might only need for a few days every 20 years. We'd all be in uproar at the cost of it.

Blimey. It's good for NSDs though. :D

So very well put, I wish others would see it that way!

Another no spend day for me, I'm not counting my mystery shop spends as I get them back... so 3 in a row isn't bad. And I've been so busy at work I've not had time to go to the coffee shop or canteen for a posh coffee!

    Cheers hon,

It's the Canadians etc on the telly that drive me mad. They trot them out to bang on about how 6 inches of snow is nothing and they live like this for 4 months of the year, and how ridiculous it is that in the UK a little bit of snow brings things life to a complete standstill. (and I throw cushions at the screen and say a string of bad words! :o )

They just don't get it do they? :D
