since joining last week i have made lots of cut backs and as you can see from my signature i have joined the £2 coin savers club, and i have sold a few things on amazon.
however, i am always keen to tryand make a bit more money especially from home as i want to reduce my hours at work. Any one got any good suggestions my hobbies are baking cakes etc and hand knitting childrens cardis etc. i would love to have a go at selling my treasures (junk) on ebay but im too afraid to take the first step any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance

What is it about ebay that you're not sure of? There'll be lots of us experienced ebayers on here and I'm sure we can set your mind at rest. Seeing your things bid on is good fun and pretty addictive too so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

    Hi again

It really helps to have a photo on as things don't tend to sell well without one. Depends what you've got to sell but lots of people just put the item on a clear floor and take the picture that way. Ebay charge you a small fee for every item you list and a fee for their extra options e.g. adding a picture in the gallery (the list of pictures that people see down the left hand side) - usually about 15p. When you list your item it will take you through all the steps until your listing is complete so that part is fairly straightforward.
The thing that confused me most when I first started was what to charge for postage, but you soon learn to guesstimate for different items.

I promise it won't take long to get the hang of, I've taught my mum how to use ebay (age 68) and she's been fine. There's lots of other stuff I could tell you, but once you've signed up, if you've got any questions you are most welcome to private message me and I'll help if i can.

    Good luck, it's fun I promise! :D

P.s. Only tax implications if you're selling on a business scale, not personal bits.

Hi MrsA, how about joining Ebay and buying a few small items first to see how it works (if you haven't already)? This will also give you a few feedback to get you started on selling as a lot of people won't buy from a zero feedback seller.

I take photos of the items I want to sell, then crop the photo using photo editing software (I use Paintshop Pro), so it looks a little more 'professional' and doesn't show the pile of papers and stuff on my desk! I tend to ignore all the extra options that Ebay charge you for, so if you start an item for 99 pence, it will cost you 15 pence to list it. When the item ends, Ebay also charges a small percentage of the finish price (called the final value fee). Hope that helps and it's really not that scary! Beware though, once you have listed items to sell, you will be logging on to see how your auctions are going about every 15 minutes, it gets very addictive! :)

Also, if you enjoy making cakes, why not see if you can do a course to learn icing or sugarcraft, then you could bake and ice occasion cakes to sell.
