So the population of this town has not disappeared but simply never arrived, or at least has yet to do so.
The development of 13,500 flats is one of the largest in Spain

check out costa esuri , its almost the same...and ironically its not on a coast at all.It looks lovely , better than most areas of spain , but like the set of a zombie flick minus the delicious meat on the street. You can drive around it for ages and not see a soul outside the peak hol season....and even then thats not many people.
How many people are there in spain now , and how many homes exactly?
This is the bubble that has been warned about spain for years , they just wont learn , instead they blame the brit expats for buying up the property and pushing up the prices. But whom are the developers you may ask , rarely are they brit companies or workers.Portugal (algarve)is also creaking at the seams and showing the same ie its hard to shift properties.
Think we will have it rough here in devaluation of house prices , well they will bear a heavy brunt.Of course that will just make them despise the brit tourist even more.
Its not long now for the euro to start going down like a overly refreshed brit on holiday.Add to this the downturn of tourist cash that there obviously will be this year , and pedro will be crying into his EU usbsidised sangria.
Spains Govt will bail out the builders , ie pay them to buldoze or down tools , thus lowering stock levels. If the govt want them all shifted then they should start charging them a brit council tax on empty houses....give em an added incentive to sell them off sharpish.
Santander , backed by the spanish govt , holds a lot of debt related to this.Lets see how honest that bank is in declaring its losses , profits and writedowns compared to the brit ones.
Looks like the static caravan prices in the uk will increase in price soon with all those brit expats selling up to cut their losses.Have you tried turning it off and on again?0 -
