in Cutting tax
hi, i have just filled in my SE. I am in full time employment and have just started my own business 07-08 i made a loss of £1800 having set up costs but its telling me the i owe £4999 now and £1599 mid year, am i right in thinking that i will have already paid this through the tax on my full time job. thanks for any help.

No easy way to say this but I think you must have messed up big time on your SA. All things being equal you should be expecting a repayment as a result of your Self Employed losses. It is impossible to understand how you could be underpaid £5k on your PAYE income. Can you provide some figures?0

If you have actually paid tax through your employment and a loss through your self employment then you should be due a refund. You need to contact your tax office and find out what you have done on your SA0
