I would just write to them and include that paragraph of the national debtline letter again.
Don't forget to be sure it says 'without prejudice' at the top of the letter
Re-jig it a bit to say that further to their letter accepting short settlements of £xxx and £xxx on the accounts, you want them to confirm that this will constitute a...
'settlement of the account. This offer is made on the clear understanding that, if accepted, neither you or any associate company will take any other action to enforce or pursue this debt in any way whatsoever and that I will be released from any liability.'
I would also add...(CCCS advise this)
Please note that should this offer not be accepted and confirmed FULLY in writing, the lump sum will not be available.
I hope all that makes sense!0 -
Ok here goes, how is the following?
Thanks again for all your helpDear Sir/MadamWITHOUT PREJUDICE

Just a quick update: -
MBNA have written back to me for both accounts confirming that my offers have been accepted as partial settlements, and that neither they nor any other companies will persue the balances in the future and that my accounts will be closed. The accounts will be marked as a partial settlement with CRA's for 6 years, but I can live with that my rating is shot anyway!!
My relative has made the payments, so I have now updated my sig!
It is just such a relief to start seeing that balance coming down.TOTAL [strike]£28766 [/strike]Aug 08TOTAL [strike]£26890 [/strike]Jan 09HSBC [STRIKE]£16393 [/STRIKE]MBNA £0:j MBNA £0 :j MINT [STRIKE]£497 [/STRIKE]OTHER [STRIKE]£1380 [/STRIKE]TOTAL [STRIKE]£18270 [/STRIKE]Feb 09HSBC £0:j MBNA X2 £0:j MINT £0:j OTHER £1165 RELATIVE £5800 TOTAL 6965 July 09:jOfficial DFW Nerd Club No 1130:jProud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Hi Everyone,
I have sucessfully managed to reclaim just under £9k PPI from HSBC and then made an offer to the advocate collecting for them of 80% as full and final settlement which they accepted, the settlement has been made.
I now owe a fraction of what I did this time last year and the majority of what is left is owed to a relative who is being very easy going about my repayments to her :heartsmil I intend to make regular payments to her, but she has said if I need some extra cash for Xmas and the likes I can miss a payment or two here and there. My friends who knew about my situation a year ago, all said things would come good but I just couldn't see how and yet practically overnight from getting the PPI back (well 8 days) and I feel like a different person. I just can't express my relief!!
A BIG thank you to everyone on here for all your advice, I couldn't have done it without you. xx :A :beer:TOTAL [strike]£28766 [/strike]Aug 08TOTAL [strike]£26890 [/strike]Jan 09HSBC [STRIKE]£16393 [/STRIKE]MBNA £0:j MBNA £0 :j MINT [STRIKE]£497 [/STRIKE]OTHER [STRIKE]£1380 [/STRIKE]TOTAL [STRIKE]£18270 [/STRIKE]Feb 09HSBC £0:j MBNA X2 £0:j MINT £0:j OTHER £1165 RELATIVE £5800 TOTAL 6965 July 09:jOfficial DFW Nerd Club No 1130:jProud to be dealing with my debts0
