Returning Wedding Presents

We had a lovely cabinet bought for us as a wedding present, but we really have no where to place it. Mum told us how much she paid for it but she binned the receipt. The price in the new catologue has increased so what will happen, will we receive any refund or vouchers and do we get the old price or the current price?

What store did your Mum buy it from, and have you checked out their returns policy? :dance:0

If you still have it in the box, original condition with the cat no sticker on, then they will give you gift vouchers. They would usually do it at current selling price, but they may look to see what the price was when it was bought, and give you that lower price.0

Maybe mum bought it on a debit/credit card, that would be sufficient as proof of purchase.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Eeek this sometimes causes problems...
If you are able to find out, how much did the cabinet cost?
If it is not expensive (as a guide say £50 max) then try fetching it back in its undamaged packaging (catalogue number on the box) without the receipt and you would receive the LOWEST PRICE the item has ever sold at, so even if it cost £49.99 for example but it was on sale for £24.99 then you're only likely to receive a voucher for the latter amount.
If you can retrieve a bank statement with the amount on then you can receive a refund onto the bank card for the amount the item was priced at on the date the transaction appears on the statement.
Your best bet would be to find the bank statement, because now the catalogue number on the box is not technically proof enough as it doesn't show the date the item was bought on.

We have'nt even opened the box cause we knew it would place in our new kitchen. I knew she bought it in the sale for £50 now its in the new catologue for £109 wow!, either way it needs to go back but the latter in vouchers would be good!0

if its home delivery only then they will have to trace your order so they can refund you, if not take it back, say you got it just recently and have no idea when it was bought, they will refund onto a gift card then whichever price they chose to refund you at is down to them. i would never mislead someone into thinking you paid more though, im sure you can get done for that

it just all depends on wether you get someone clued up on customer service or not, when i worked there i was like djb215 and told to only refund at the lowest price but deffinately used my discretionfor nice customers0
