Bankruptcy & VAT & Self Assessment liabilities

Hi everybody i hope you are all well. I have posted a few threads over the last 2 months concerning my BR which happened on the 7th Jan.
Everything was going ok untill today.
I included my VAT and Self Assessment on my BR forms but could not give a figure because i had no money to pay an accountant to complete the forms. My current accountant estimated it would cost about £1500.00 to bring all my tax up to date but i would not have to do this because i would be bankrupt and the figures would not matter as anything owed or to be claimed would be included in the bankruptcy.I am self employed by the way. My self assessment for 2007/2008 as not been completed and also from April 2008 up until my BR date. Also the last two Vat quarters.
Anyway i spoke to Customs And Excise today and they told me that these returns would have to be completed and sent in and also i will be liable for any payments due. How can i do this, i have no money. Can anybody please please give me any advise as the headaches and sleepless nights have started again
Best regards
Richard

You're only liable for any VAT/Tax from the date of your BR. Everything before that is included. Ask your OR to confirm this to HMRC.

Hi Don hope you are well and things are going ok for you. I have already spoken to the OR and she told me that they do not get involved with the Customs and Excise and its up to me to sort out with them. Its a bit ironic as it was them who put the final nail in the coffin for me and they still want more and more. Ive worked for 20 years never claimed any benefit and always kept upto date with my tax untill things went pear shaped with the business. Dont no what to do they have had everything off me and they now want more. Vultures.
    Regards
    Richard

Speak again to HMRC until you get hold of someone who understands BR - might mean a few phone calls though
