in the middle of mortgage process, question?

hi, i am getting my new mortgage with britannia. they are now at the stage where they say they will assess my application and payslips. what do they actually check? im sure the application would have been checked at the start?

    To make sure the payslips tally with what you said you earned.

    It may seem like stating the obvious, but that's basically it.
