  • Ah of course, I forgot all about that!! I will leave it a while then and try again next month (week lol!).

I'll get a P11 requested via HR then and that'll give them some time to get it through to me before I call tax office again and get everything sorted out.

Thank you so so much for taking the time to help me out :) xx

It is up to you to inform HMRC of your name and/or address change not your employer.
Although your employer sends in end of year returns to HMRC with your pay, tax and national insurance details on it. HMRC do not check if there are any changes in your circumstances such as name or address in fact it is increasingly likely the that the monetary details are transmitted online by your employer to your National Insurance number on the HMRC browser and no human looks at them until a query arises.

HMRC lines are also busy with everyone calling to check if they have already received the "Childrens Tax Credit" allowance for 2002/2003 :o

  • I had informed them by letter when my circumstances changed (sent copy of deed poll certificate etc) and they wrote back acknowledging the changes which is why I'm now so confused as to why they would still have me down as 'Mrs X' when I haven't been that for 5 years.....also wondering how someone changed my address from what I had given them back to my married address and then to my parents because I certainly haven't given them those details!

I'm gonna leave it until after the new month begins and then try again.....going to write as well just to back it all up with copies of payslips etc.

Will let you all know how it goes x
