My wifes application to return to work on a part-time basis has been refused.

Question with two angles:

Is she effectively resigning but only wishing to return part time (and this being refused)
Will she be eligible for JSA if she is only looking for PT work or does she need to be available full time?

Not sure on the second point but as far as I am aware if she has requested part time hours at her normal job and been refused (which they can do, subject to conditions) then she would be resigning if she left. Unfortunately although mums returning to work have the right to request more friendly hours, the company doesn't have to agree to it.

You haven't given too much information. What was the arrangement your wife had before she went on maternity leave?
