slowly getting sorted!

hi all,

just joined the site today, i have been using it for a while now though, and you'll be pleased to know that your views and comments on the problems people have had have given me the kowledge and the confidence to get my finances on track!

last feb i lost my job and it all went down hill from there. i had debts of £33,576.53 on feb 22nd 2005, not including my mortgage! by april i had missed all my regular payments and still no job. my gf was doing her best to support me and our 2 chidren but her part time job just wasn't bringing in enough to pay for anything other than the bare essentials.

any way to cut a long story short we sold the house and moved in with my uncle (what a guy) while we waited to be offered a house to rent by our local council. needless to say that even after the sale of the house we still had about £15,000 debt to live with.

now we have a rented house that is better (and cheaper) than our old house, the gf is back at work full time, i have just finished a free course in web design and have an interview next week for a new job, the kids are happy with there new bedrooms and all my creditors have agreed on lower, affordable payments until i get established in my new job. things are certainly looking up.

thanks to everyone that has put good advice on this website, it has served me well and i know that i will help me clear the remaining debt i have.

  • Good luck with your job interview-fingers crossed. Cutting a long story short always makes it sound easy when in fact I bet it was massively stressful. Keep up the good work with clearing your debts.

  • thanks for you kind comments. but my story hasn't ended yet!

you see i saw a tv program called MY NAME IS EARL, and it intrduced me to KARMA!

we have all done things that we shouldn't have throughout our lives, i have decided, like EARL, to make up for them. i am reaping the benefits already.

this morning i was given a new dining table and chairs by a man that lives around the corner, for free! and yesterday i found out that we are down to the last four couples in a competition to win a luxury wedding being run by our local radio station. we are going to the radio station tomorrow to tell our story live on air as will the other 3 couples and then it will go to a public vote, big brother style, tat starts on friday.

moral of the story is that karma actually works, and maybe if we all try our best to do the right thing then debt wouldnt exist and my email inbox wouldnt be full of spam!!!!

So true are your words hon, Karma does exist and if you read my signature it means the same thing, only worded differently. What you send out does come back to you thricefold, I assure you and any good luck you are receiving right now you deserve by being a good person and sending kindness out. Life is always a series of ups and downs and if you go with the flow and keep Karma in mind always you will always come out and see that cloud with the silver lining at the other side of your problems.

By the way, what is that programme? I've never heard of it never mind seen it. What chanel is it on and at what time and when? Would love to see it :p

Well done on what you have achieved so far, may good luck and good fortune continue to enhance your life.
