i called a local care centre 14th january about part time work. i spoke to manager who invited me down for a chat and gave me an application form. i filled it in and handed it to him personally the next day.
so thats coming up 2 weeks ago. how long can you expect to get a response? should i call and see whats happening so i know whats what or leave it longer.
im not sure about how all this works as its been so long since i last applied for jobs.

Just give them a call. If its a receptionist that answers then I'd just ask her about it rather than ask to speak to the manager

To be honest in today's market they don't really acknowledge applications anymore really. If you want to know then you have to chase them up. A quick ring wont do any harm just to see what's what.

  • Call them. A friendly call just to see how your application is progressing is quite acceptable. I recruit and encourage applicants to stay in contact with me. If its a no, thank them and ask if you can call them again in say 6 weeks to see if there are other roles available. Be professional, polite and friendly and thank them for their time. Easy!
