Not all agencies are bad, i have only ever worked with one agency, (registered with loads) after uni, and i have only ever had two assignments with them, The first one lasted 9 months and the second one, well i was taken on permantly with the company.
This agency actually actually made use of the internet and had e-timesheets, i was always paid correctly, was taxed correctly and when i was taken on permantly i was paid fully, holiday pay paid a week later and p45 sent to, all without any requests.
yes some are good and some are bad. The one i worked for begins with P and i believe its a national agency!!!!!!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

Salschick, I'm not saying all agencies do this, but it does seem to be the norm from the contractors we have had.
I don't quite understand why an employer would continue to use an agency to supply contractors knowing that they are constantly being paid incorrectly
. The odd temp leaving won't make them change their ways, but losing contracts would. "On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

I do not think they are incorrectly paid, just not pay at all until over a month down the line. My company pays the agency on time and the contractors get get their timesheets signed weekly.
We even had to loan one guy money from our own pocket and contact the company on his behalf and think if we would have not stepped it it would have easily gone into 3 months. It does seem to be the lower end payment companies that do this though and some umbrella ones.
Some agancies are just scum!GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.

If the agreement is they are paid weekly and they aren't being paid weekly they are being paid incorrectly. The contractor should be paid as agreed, and by continuing to do business with an agency that pays them incorrectly you are giving them the green card to continue.
Our workers are paid weekly, and amendments made by cheque with a cashment letter should there be a mistake unless the worker is happy to wait until the following payday. Agencies who don't pay give the rest of us a bad name; they need to understand that the candidates are as important as the conrtacts as neither does well without the other."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of."
