I recently won the House of Fraser comp for £550 of Ghost bed linens!
I was really chuffed but not wanting to sound ungrateful they are offering all double sized sheets and duvet covers and my bed is a king-size.
I wanted to know if you think they might do an exchange on the items in store, I checked their policy online and they only do exchanges on items with receipts.... I doubt they will give me a receipt when I collect the items as they were a prize?!
It just seems a real shame if I can't use the majority of the prize, the pillows and cushions obviously are fine.
xx

Have you emailed the organiser of the comp at all?BACK and READY..... waiting on Royal Mail!!!0

The original comp post stated that the bed linen was for a double bed, so not sure why it's a problem now?
Best win ever: Trip to the Galapagos Islands in 20100 -
Can you not give away/sell the sheets and duvet cover? Failing that - go and buy a smaller bed lol0

I don't know what your chances are, Ghost are a consession in House of Fraser. Thanks to the Icelandic Banking collapse the backers of Ghost have gone into administartion. This also means that Ghost has also collapsed - I think they are just selling off there stock to pay the creditors at the moment.Thank You to all that post competitions. :T

Can you explain the situation to them. If they won't budge on this then I would take the prize and sell it, private ad. or ebay. Then you could buy new bedding with the money.0

Don't mean to sound harsh, but it's a perfect example why people should check that what they are entering is something they actually want or need.
Someone with a double bed could have really appreciated those.... whereas you're sat there now wondering what to do with them....
I'd suggest sell them on ebay and buy yourself a king bedset with the proceeds, and be more careful what comps you enter in future.2008 wins: £1713.20
2009 wins: Jan: Cadburys choc set £2, Book of rubbish ideas £6, Hair treatment £10 Feb: Xbox 360! £tbc
This will be mine in 2009 challenge: Cash/vouchers - [strike]Games console[/strike] - Hamper0 -
i think its a tad cheeky
the prize was stated as double linen
its similar to asking for a 42 inch tv instead of a 32 inch because youve got bigger room0 -
I would also suggest contacting the competition organiser or FOH representative and explain offering to pay the extra money for the kingsize set?

Ghost are not in administration. They were bought by Hawes and Curtis last November and are an ongoing concern. Also the backers are not in administration, they just put that particular company into admin, and then were subsequently bought by Hawes and Curtis.

Hope that helps info wise.0 -
I would ask them if you could swap the double bed items for the same value of king sized sheets etc. If they stock them, I don't see why they wouldn't swap them round.
If not, then I guess you would have to ebay them, at least you would then be able to choose a design that suits your decor etc, with the proceeds.
Or alternatively, take them back to another store, and ask if you can swap them for the right size. We asked for double sheets etc for wedding presents, but moved house in the meantime and got a bigger bed. We had no problem swapping the unopened packages at John Lewis, fortunately we had some gift vouchers to pay the difference. I don't see why a similar situation shouldn't have happened in your case.0
