Hi All,
I currently live in a housing association house... If I go bankrupt will they be informed? Our rent is all up to date - But, if they find out I am bankrupt would they (or could they) chuck us out?
Thanks,
Andy

Hiya!
The best thing to do is check your tenancy agreement, or give them a call. If there is a bankrputcy clause in the agreement, have an interview with them to see if they will still let you stay there.0 -
The OR will normally inform your landlord. You can ask them not to but it is up to the individual OR as to whether they tell them or not.
I am H/A and i have never heard a peep out of my LL,so don't know if they even know i was bc. Unless you are in arrears they have no grounds to evict you. BC is not a legal reason to evict.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Dalip is quite correct, the only two reasons that a H/A would kick you out would be 1.An ASBO served against you and you refused to comply with it or 2.. rent arrears, in the latter even with arrears the H/A would still have to go to the courts for an eviction notice.
Please dont worry too much about this, firstly if you were made Bankrupt and left with no savings you would qualify for housing benefits which would be paid direct to your landlord. secondly the amount of people that will be made Bankrupt this year is major, and all would have to be rehomed at some point.0 -
that is my worry, we are also in housing association. My thoughts are they were formed to be beneficial to the needy and I think br is real need, what for though I am not sure. Money Talks ...but all mine ever says is Goodbye! :rolleyes:0

I rang my H/A a while back for another poster who did not want to ring theirs.
I was told that "by law they are not allowed to evict anybody because of bc"

This came up a little while ago and I was interested in the replies because I am a HA tenant too.
I remember someone "in the know" saying that as providers of Social Housing they could not evict a tenant on the grounds of bankruptcy.
