A few more questions about bankruptcy...

Hello again,

I am still considering bankruptcy. Is anyone able to answer the following questions for me..?

1. If I go bankrupt will the OR look into my wifes bank account, or do they have the power to do so?

2. Would the OR consider taking my wifes car, or just mine?

3. What happens if utility bill arrears are included in the bankruptcy? Will the companies cancel my accounts leaving me with no gas, electric etc..?

Many Thanks,
Andy

    Hello again,

I am still considering bankruptcy. Is anyone able to answer the following questions for me..?

    1. If I go bankrupt will the OR look into my wifes bank account, or do they have the power to do so? Absolutley not.

    2. Would the OR consider taking my wifes car, or just mine? Again no.

    3. What happens if utility bill arrears are included in the bankruptcy? Will the companies cancel my accounts leaving me with no gas, electric etc..? Most companies close the account and open a new one with a different number and £0 balance. Some will ask you to go on a pre-payment meter. But if your wife isn't BR you can avoid this by getting a new provider in her name. You won't get cut off though.

    Many Thanks,
    Andy

    Hope this helps some.

    1. If I go bankrupt will the OR look into my wifes bank account, or do they have the power to do so? Normaly no, and they cannot request to without good cause, such as evidence you may have transfered funds to it to hide them from the OR for example

    2. Would the OR consider taking my wifes car, or just mine?No if it was purchased by her

    3. What happens if utility bill arrears are included in the bankruptcy? Will the companies cancel my accounts leaving me with no gas, electric etc..?They are not supposed too, but i believe British Gas have of late:rolleyes:
